Tips to Take Care of Your Mental Health During Home Isolation

Social distancing and home isolation can be really hard to deal with. It’s normal to feel anxious, frustrated or bored, and if you’re worried about the effect it will have on your mental health, you are not alone.

Here are 10 ways in which you can take care of your mental health while self-isolating during this coronavirus pandemic:

  1. Make time to talk to family and friends — even via email, social media, or phone.

  2. Keep a routine, maintain a healthy balance, and take regular breaks when working.

  3. Keep up a healthy lifestyle — eat balanced diet, exercise, and get quality sleep.

  4. Get as much sunlight, fresh air and nature as much as you can.

  5. Make time for activities and hobbies you enjoy.

  6. Practice relaxation, meditation and mindfulness.

  7. Remember that your effort to self-isolate is helping others in the community.

  8. Take break from the news and social media if you find it distressing.

  9. Remind yourself that this is a temporary period of isolation.

  10. Seek professional help when needed.
